Masamichi Udagawa (b. Tokyo, 1964)
Sigi Moeslinger (b. Vienna, 1968)
Antenna Design was founded in 1997 by Masamichi Udagawa, a graduate of Cranbrook Academy, and Sigi Moeslinger, a graduate of NYU and Art Center College of Design. Antenna’s human-centred design approach aims to make the experience of objects and environments more meaningful and exciting. Antenna’s best-known projects include the design of New York City Subway carriages and ticket vending machines, check-in kiosks for JetBlue and displays for Bloomberg.
When Knoll wanted to design a new open-plan office system, Antenna’s experience with ever-expanding technology and expertise in user experience made it an attractive collaboration partner. Together, Knoll and Antenna conceived Antenna Workspaces, an innovative open-plan system that reflects both Udagawa and Moeslinger’s interest in functional simplicity and their expertise in using design as a tool of social interaction that bridges the gap between people and technology.
Antenna has won several prestigious design awards, including the National Design Award in Product Design from the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. Both Udagawa and Moeslinger are senior graphic design critics at Yale University School of Art.
